Statement of Purpose (SOP)
It is an immense pleasure to get an opportunity to draw a statement of purpose including my personal and educational background and my career objective. I have also mentioned the reasons that helped me choose Australia as my study destination and Kaplan Business School, Sydney as a desired institution.
Introduction
My name is Applicant Name, son/daughter of Mr. Father’s Name and Mrs. Mother’s Name. I was born on DOB and my passport number is passport number. I am currently live in address with my family. My family have always been supportive of my academic choices and have pushed me to pursue my passions. As I am highly focused to build my career in health service and Management field and wished to continue my higher education with an international creditability, I decided to pursue Master degree in health service and Management from Kaplan Business School, Sydney.
Academic background
I have given School Leaving Certificate (S.L.C) from School located in address, Nepal scoring first division in year 2010. Then I completed my +2 level i.e., Higher Secondary education Board (H.S.E.B) in 2012 taking science as major subject with physics, chemistry, computer science and mathematics with Second division from higher Secondary School, address and I completed my bachelor in optometry in first division from College, address. My interest on health service and management developed since very young age as my mother is working in same field and eventually, I kept a desire to get an international degree on Health service and management. With these reasons, I attended PTE exam on date and scored overall 65.
Gap Clarification
After completing my Bachelor degree in optometry, with intention to share my knowledge and serve in field of health sector, I own a business (name) and working as an optometrist from joined date. As I am aspiring to resume my further study, I started looking option for my postgraduate program in Nepal. During my research, I found there are limited number of universities in Nepal offering master in health service and management with limited number of seats. As I am little bit experienced in clinical field, I want to be an effective leader with incredible human relation skills and supervise the delivery of health care. Here I am able to gain new perspective on Health sector and management. Working in health sector has also been my motivation factor to join this unique course in Kaplan business school.
Reason for not choosing Nepal and India
Basically, the quality of education of Nepal yet needs to reach to the level of other country like Australia with real world application than just theoretical approach. First of all, the curriculum and teaching method is old and outdated in Nepal which has not been updated for a long time. There are only few good universities and colleges with limited seats. Though Master courses are available here in Tribhuvan University, Kathmandu University and more, and their main aim is to provide students intensive knowledge and skill in different areas. The educational system here is theoretical and cannot give enough experience in the sector which creates more difficulty for the students to tackle in the real-world problems.
I have completed my undergraduate from Bangalore, India. I have learned a lot more in the field of optometry. The teaching methodology are more practical and advanced than that of Nepal. Despite of quality education, their degree is not globally recognized as compared to other study destinations like USA, UK, Canada, Australia and so on. The education system yet needed to developed so that it could be recognized internationally.
So, this time around, not only I but also my family and friends encouraged me to pursue an international Master’s degree that would steer my career in the best possible manner. Hence, I have made this decision of choosing Australia for my further studies in Kaplan business school.
Reasons to choose Australia
Even though the course in business sector is also available in my country and I prefer Australia for better quality of education. Quality education is vital for successful career which is better in Australia than developing country like Nepal. Due to difference in quality of education and from where we graduate, there will be difference in our practical behavior too. The degree acquired from Australia is globally recognized. So due to these reasons I have chosen Australia over my country Nepal for my further higher education. Even after completion of visa period when I return to my own country, I’ll be able to take my family business to a new level with Australian degree and have better life ahead.
These days’ no one can deny the fact that, Australia is ranked as top third in abroad destination for study in the world after USA and UK, Australia provides good quality of life with a suitable cost of living. Australia is known for good security for students than other countries. As Australia is a peaceful country without and conflicts and crimes, students feel more secure and safe. Australia is 10th happiest country in world with friendly natives which will be easy for students to adapt their new life throughout their study in Australia. Climatic conditions also one important thing that should be considered while going abroad for study. As climatic condition of Canada, European countries and others have different climates, it may create problem for me to adapt there. But Australia has a climate condition similar to Nepal which I am used to and won’t bother me anymore. Australia is multicultural and multi religious country. It is sure than education acquired from Australia is one of the best in the world with well qualified and experienced teachers in every university and college. Affordable costs of studies are significant reason for me to choose Australia over other countries. Another one is currency value of Australia which is being lower than countries like USA, UK and European countries. About 76.8% of Australian speaks English language so it will be easier to cope with them. Whereas countries like Japan, Korea, and European countries, most of the people speak their own native and mother tongue language which is complicated for international students. Australia also has international student friendly education policy. One of the main reasons to study in Australia is their facilities for international students, Australia’s organization such as commonwealth register of institutions and courses for overseas students (CRICOS) maintain the standard of the institutions providing the education for foreign students. The government has institutions providing the education for foreign students. The government has formulated ESOS act which outlines the rights and responsibilities of three parties i.e., student, education provider, and the government. Tuition fee protection service (TPS) guarantees refund of tuition fee if in case education provider is suspended or shut down. Source: (https://www.studyinaustralia.gov.au). This provision is not available in the USA and the UK. To get admission in American universities, I should appear the extra test i.e., SAT/ACT which takes more time for preparation. Australia also has made health insurance policy named overseas student health cover (OSHC) which covers specific health expenses for an international student but such policy is also not offered by the UK and the US governments. Thirdly, 0 out of 100 top universities in the world in Australia and 5 out of 30 best student cities in the world are in Australia.
Reasons for choosing Sydney
Australia has many big cities named Melbourne, Sydney, and Brisbane which makes attractive destination to life while studying. Among these cities I have decided to study in Sydney as it has huge diversity among the students where I will be studying with the students with different languages, cultures, and traditions from around the world. Apart from this, Sydney being the largest city in Australia has the largest airport of Australia and has direct access to international flights and key Australian tourist destinations. Sydney opera house, world heritage listed is the heart to city’s cultural life which draws missions of visitors each year. In addition, Hyde Park, barrack’s management and art gallery of New South Wales are always refreshing place to take break from books. Many impressive stretch suburb beaches provide mood refreshing environment where people can stray seaside picnics; relax in sun after an invigorating swim in the ocean. Nevertheless, great climate, world class study options and affordable quality education for international students are other fine reasons to study in Sydney where I can enjoy diverse climate, culture with the combination quality education.
Reason for choosing Kaplan Business School
After deciding to study in Australia, I have researched most of universities and colleges in Australia that provide MBA in Health specialization such as 1st University (AUD 28,800), 2nd University (AUD 41,440), 3rd University (AUD 37,500), 4th University (AUD 32,100), 5th University (AUD 35,400), 6th University (AUD 43,346) including Kaplan Business School (AUD 43,092). Further researching, I have found that Federation University has an overall satisfaction of 78.8% for postgraduate studies and has the campus location in Brisbane only. Similarly, 1st university (82.3%), 2nd University (74.4%), 3rd University (81.5%) etc. has lower satisfaction as compared to KBS (83%).
On top of that, Kaplan Business School is widely recognized as a world pioneer in delivering affordable higher education degrees at the university level in Australia. Furthermore, practical subjects, attentive and nurturing support, world leading career support, culturally diverse classrooms, globally recognized provider are some other advantages of studying in Kaplan. After going through all of these factors, I have come to the conclusion that the best way for me to provide support for my family and my country is to get a degree that is recognized all around the globe which will be accomplished with studying at Kaplan Business School.

Future career plan after completing intended program
Being an ambitious woman, I always looked up to enhance my knowledge and skills for human wellbeing. I get immense pleasure to help the needy people and support them in anyway. With the desire to uplift the health system in Nepal. I will return to my own home nation where I can showcase my abilities and expertise for the betterment of health sector. We all know that, being a developing nation Nepal’s health sector lacks updated health system and protocols, equipment, infrastructure and skilled manpower. After completion of my Master degree study, I want to work in health service sector to pursue my health career and contribute to the growth in my community.
Having international degree and certificate is regarded as quite valuable in my country. Consequently, I will be qualified for the positions of Health Care Administrator, Hospital administrator, Healthcare consultant in hospitals like List of Hospitals, Health Care etc. with the initial salary scale from NPR Amount range. Relatively after gaining 2-3 years of experience, I hold the positions of Nurse Manager, Practice Manager, Facility manager, Director of nursing, Program director with the salary in excess of NPR Amount. However, as I have my own business, I will also use new insights and objectives in its management.
Working part-time positions at the hospital makes it much simpler for me to devote some of my time to developing my own company. My ultimate objective is to provide good health service to my community and nation with sophisticated health system so that all citizens can have easy access to fundamental health care. I have always believed that humanity comes before money. It might take more than six years to recoup all my educational expenditures. However, the smiles on the faces of my patient are priceless.
Incentives to return back to Nepal
My family have been generous, caring and the perfect role model for me. I am leaving my 2-year-old daughter on care of my family. When I return, she will be 4 years and ready to join school. I want to be there to make her do her home works and listen to her stories about how she will make new friends at school. My daughter is my strength, and when I look into her eyes, I feel inspired to reach my goals. As a daughter, I always perceive my mother as my role model and I wish I could be like her so that my own daughter could look up to me in the same way. My family are my biggest motivators and main reason to return back to my country. Also, as I am running the company “Company Name”, which is my dream, my plan is to take that business to national level and serve in the field of ophthalmology. My family will manage it while I am away but I will be back to take this to another level.
